Quebec City- Go with the flow weekend - first 36 hours
Always wanted visit Quebec...words I uttered and so J said...just book it. And we did. We were in Cambridge, Massachusetts (J's full time work place and mine part time as I try and build my corporate headshot business here).
After a 7 hour drive we reach Quebec City (QC) late evening. After checking into our hotel, Marriott QC downtown, we ate our picnic dinner in the room (the one we never had a chance to stop and eat on the road because of construction traffic) and we started exploring the streets.
Down Place D'Youville, climbing up on the fort walls, walking towards the Citadel, through the quaint shops of Rue St. Louis and to Terrace Dufferin, watching the street acts and back to the hotel past Notre Dame Cathedral and Rue St. Jean where we were introduced to our first taste and addiction to chocolate covered mini cone at Chocolato, which became our nightly halt. It was also our first meet with a beautiful couple from Florida whom we would bump into time and time again over the next few days. They took the picture of the two of us here.

Off course I had to
We called it a night and started next morning without much of an agenda except for a reservation we had made at Place Dufferin for brunch. First, a walk to the Citadel to observe the crossing of the guards and a short visit to the museum. I noticed it far too late that I was not supposed to take photos in the museum....but how could I not pay homage to the decorated veterans?

Now it was time to walk towards the 5000 calorie brunch we were anticipating at Place Dufferin.
We walked around the Citadel, to the top of the cliff and down Governors walk (if you do it the other way round you will end up walking up hill....so I guess the calorie deficit was still not matched). The brunch was amazing. Melt in your mouth pastries, sides, salads, fresh fruit and ahamazing Eggs Benedict all washed down with Lemon drop.
he loves watching ships wherever we go so we paused
for this tourist cruise

By now we were ready to hit the road, we checked out the Notredame Cathedral and downhill to the Gare du Palais (which was not as exciting as the shopkeeper with whom I spent big bucks on leather bags made it out to be.

The heat was getting to us so we decided to Uber it to The Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec http:// https://www.mnbaq.org/en
We were in for such a great treat...I got introduced to the amazing work of Numa Amun. It takes special skill to create such precise work. Unfortunately no pictures from me but check out the link on the name above...you will be floored. I thorough enjoyed a special exhibit of Miro, photos attached but was deeply disturbed by The Flux and the Puddle by David Altmejd. Some bug with this theme and iPhone photos which take an orientation of their own...I guess you will have to crane your neck to see it :). If you have made it this far you will stay with me.
Now it was time to walk through the plains of Abraham and back to the hotel and quiet dinner. 7 miles of walking later we had explored most of the top half of Old Quebec City
Bonne nuit until tomorrow when we get out of the city.
